“On the Trail of Dante in Ravenna. Ancient places, new emotions” is a documentary of international significance that has never been made before.
It takes the audience on a short guided tour and, over the course of eleven chapters that tell of Dante Alighieri’s time in Ravenna, leads to historical places frequented by the poet or mentioned in the Divine Comedy.
The video also lets you enjoy an overall view of the historic centre, the Unesco monuments and the Pineta di Classe (Dante’s Pine Forest), presenting a territory rich in cultural and artistic attractions.
Also noteworthy are the eight beautiful Unesco monuments already in place during Dante’s time in Ravenna with the splendid mosaics he admired and that became the source of inspiration for many verses in his masterpiece: the basilicas of San Vitale, Sant’Apollinare in Classe, Sant ‘Apollinare Nuovo, the Neoniano and Aryan baptisteries, the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia and Theodoric. You should not miss a short trip to the prestigious collection of 21 modern mosaics on the subject of Dante’s “Hell and Paradise” exhibited at the TAMO Museum.
